Wu'er Kaixi is one of my respected student leader of Tiananmen protests in 1989. I still remember how he, wearing a pajama, interrupted and argued with Premie Li Peng in their so-called meeting. I was only 15 years old, inevitably fascinated by his brave attitude. He is my forever hero, even though the media chooses to criticize him recently.

It has been 20 years, the symbol of Wu're Kaixi is no more simple and straight forward, but turned to be complicated. What we know about him is a mix of history, memory, legends, and gossips. It could be a re-interpretation of interpretation. His stories are spread away. Stories construct language and language constructs stories.

Yes, it has been 20 years. Pajama has been hanged, holds back its rebellious manner, only presents its everyday essence. Once there is wind, stories of “another Wu'er Kaixi” are spread out. This Wu're Kaixi had not joined the protests. He could be another person with same name with Wu're Kaixi, or another Wu're Kaixi who is living in another parallel world, or living in legend. Whatever, his name is called Wu're Kaixi.
